The photographs on our website were taken by Bill Englander. After one of his photography sessions at Flanders mansion, he wrote the following poem in tribute to the house. It seems appropriate to include it with his photographs.

Flanders

I've seen your grace
your timeless grandeur
I've walked your grounds
enjoyed your views

I've walked the trail
our forefathers walked
to get to your front door

It wasn't until recently
when I came to photograph you
that I discovered
your inner beauty

Little did I know
of your splendor
your magic

What had been respect and admiration
became love
What had been commitment
became obsession

I wish I had the money
the power
to save you from the political nightmare
the greed, the ignorance

To prevent you from being owned
by people with paint cans
and no vision

To prevent you from being sold
to a select few
instead of being enjoyed by all

To prevent you from being a monument
to wealth and power

Thank you for the brief time that we had

My photos will preserve
my memory of you
I wish others
could be so lucky
